Introducing the Disc Golf Academy

It doesn’t matter if you just started playing disc golf, been an active for a few years, or you are competing at the top level for PDGA World Championships, we all share a common goal: be better tomorrow than you are today.

Earlier this month, Jussi Meresmaa introduced 2018 as The Year of the Shield. We’re aiming to help you become the best disc golfer you can be.  To help you achieve your goals, we’re establishing the Disc Golf Academy.

The Disc Golf Academy will feature easy-to-follow tutorials and many how-to videos and articles to help you become a better disc golfer.

Each and every article we publish should have something for you. It might not seem obvious at first, but you can continue to come back to these articles when the time is right. Best of all, we’re providing all of this for free.

Your Instructors

We’ve gathered a team of professional and amateur disc golfers from around the world to lead the Disc Golf Academy. You’ll find tips and instruction of many disc golf pros including from Team Discmania members Avery Jenkins, Dana Vicich, Andreas Gertsch, and more.

“I’m very excited for the expansion of the valuable content that we will be offering at the Disc Golf Academy,” says Jenkins who serves as the Disc Golf Academy’s head coach.

“Our main goal is to provide resourceful information when it comes to effective training, proper instruction and various pro tips from our very knowledgable team of experts and coaches. If you’re a player that is looking to improve, this is truly going to help you reinvent your game!”

Reinventing Your Game

The Disc Golf Academy is dedicated to seeing each and every disc golfer improve every time out. We aren’t going to just cover the basics. We’re going to break down every type of throw, every scenario you might come across, and even ways off the course to improve your results on the course.

If it is disc golf, we will cover it deeper than it has ever been done. We have set out to become the go-to source for becoming a better disc golfer. We have many plans in place and we already have content for the rest of 2018 established and ready to go. We will make you a better disc golfer. This isn’t about us. This is about you.

Your First Courses

Our first video series will be released in February. We’re detailing how disc golfers can use off-season training to improve your game. Team Discmania members Simon Lizotte and Eagle McMahon are spending January in Switzerland at G-Balance for their Disc Golf Bootcamp. And thank´s to G-Balance Coaches Andreas and Irene Gertsch, we’re taking the Bootcamp to you with four upcoming videos: Speed, Strength, Coordination, and Endurance.

It might appear those are not the most obvious topics when it comes to becoming a disc golfer, but you’ll soon learn they can serve as quite the foundation for an upcoming season.

Shape the Academy

Our team could talk for days on how to be a better disc golfer, but we also want to hear from you. Email us at academy@discmania.net with what you’d like to see us cover. Even if you think you’re the only one who has this thought or you’re the only one facing this problem, we’d love to hear from you. Odds are, you’re not alone.

Again, if this is your first time playing disc golf or you’re a seasoned veteran, we all want to improve and our goal at Discmania is to make that happen and our efforts begin today.

We’ll see you in the Academy.
