With just five holes to play, it looked like Calvin Heimburg was too far back. But if there’s one thing we’ve learned over the years, it’s to never count out Calvin. In just a few holes, the DGPT Championship was flipped upside down. A late-round surge—fueled by elite shot-making, fearless decision-making, and a huge eagle putt with his Signature Edition KC Pro Aviar—sealed the win and cemented what was already a career season for Vinny.
In the FPO, Sofia Donnecke took 4th after earning her Wildcard spot at MVP. That means she started with no stroke advantage and still beat out players who began as many as seven under par.
On the tee of Hole 14, Calvin Heimburg trailed the lead by five strokes. By the time he tapped in on 18, he had a three-stroke victory. In five holes, the tournament was turned completely on its head, showcasing exactly why Heimburg is one of the game’s most dangerous closers.

A string of mistakes and misfortune on 14 for the leader at the time, Aaron Gossage, brought Calvin within two. What happened on 14 may have been outside his control, but what followed was all Vinny.
Calvin threw a massive drive on Hole 15, delivered a solid upshot, then drained a 56-foot eagle putt (his second eagle on the hole of the tournament). It was the only eagle of the final round and brought him within one of the lead. But Calvin wasn’t waiting for someone else to fold.
“I generally like to try to go out on my own terms,” he said after the round. So on 16—a hole no one had birdied all day—he went for it. While most of the field, including both leaders, laid up, Vinny launched one of the most impressive tee shots of the season. Isaac Robinson and Aaron Gossage both took double bogeys. Calvin walked away with the outright lead.
He birdied 17. He laid up for par on 18. And just like that, he was the 2025 Tour Champion.
I don’t like to leave it up to other people. So I went for them all, and it all worked out for me today.
– Calvin Heimburg
Heimburg opened the tournament with a -9 at New London Tech which he called one of his best rounds of the year. He went on to lead the event in Circle 2 Putting at 57% and in Circle 1 Hits in Regulation. Those C2 putts were made with his new Signature Edition KC Pro Aviar, and marked his best Circle 2 putting performance of the season. It took the hot round on Day One, super-solid stats all weekend, and a never-give-up mindset to set Calvin up for the dramatic comeback in the final round.
This may have been the best season of Calvin’s career. He only missed the Top 10 twice. He won his first Major at the European Disc Golf Festival. And now, he adds the DGPT Championship—arguably the second biggest win of his career—to his resume.
His season ends with over $100,000 in tournament earnings for the third year in a row, 20 Top 10 finishes at Elite and Major events, and a 2nd-place finish in the DGPT Point Standings.

Sofia Donnecke, who earned her Wildcard spot with a hot final round at MVP, finished in 4th. She started the tournament with no stroke advantage, but her scores through the four rounds of competitive play were just one stroke off what the winner scored. She shot the hot round on Day 3 to move into position and closed out with a -3 final round that landed her in the top 5. For the second week in a row, she earned the biggest payout of her career—$4,000 at Throw Pink and now $7,500 here.
Sofia’s final stretch—7th at MVP, 4th at Throw Pink, 4th at the Tour Championship—is a glimpse into her potential and what we might see next season.
