Simon Lizotte sets world record with 903 foot throw; Two women’s records also set

In 2014, Simon Lizotte crushed the World Flying Disc Federation’s world record for a distance throw with his mark of 863.5 feet (263.2 meters). Today, Lizotte became the first to throw a disc over 900 feet with his new world record toss of 903.9 feet (275.5 meters). In fact, he did it with the same disc he threw in 2014.

This is only the first of three days of competition at the High Desert Distance Challenge held outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. Even with two days still to go the conditions were gusty on Saturday which provided the added lift needed to achieve the top mark in the world. There is still plenty of time to see even further marks set and more WFDF records fall.

Jennifer Allen, Juliana Korver set new records

Jennifer Allen had her sights set on a new world record for the women’s division and walks away from day one with a successful throw. Allen’s toss of 568.6 feet (173.3 meters) is a new world record beating the old mark by over 37 feet (11 meters).

Juliana Korver can also close the first day of competition with a world record throw of the over-45-years-old women’s division. Korver’s throw of 425.5 feet (129.7) meters was almost 44 feet (13 meters) better than the old mark.
