Presenting The Nate Doss Junior Grant Program

In 1998 “Steady” Ed Headrick, the inventor of the disc golf basket and founder of DGA, took a chance on a young boy and brought him to his first world championships. That young boy was 13 year old, Nate Doss. At the time, Ed could have never imagined the effect this would take on young Nate, who would eventually go on to win four world championships, one junior and three open titles. Ever since then, Nate realized how important a single moment could be, and how it could impact someone’s life forever.

It is now Nate’s turn to help create that moment for someone else. In late 2015, Nate started developing this idea and wondered how he could help kids with the same disc golf dreams as he had. The result was the Nate Doss Junior Grant Program, in which money would be raised and one deserving junior player would be given the opportunity to go to the world championships and compete. With money raised from the 2015 Team Keen Fundraiser discs and from the help of his partners; Keen Footwear, Grip Equipment and Discraft, this idea is now a reality.

The grant is designed for ONE girl or boy, 18 years old or younger, who will compete in a Junior division, was a current PDGA member in 2015, completed in at least one PDGA event in 2015 and has the dream of playing in the world championships this year. The application process will include a 200 word or less essay that the applicant must write themselves. The entire grant process is designed to help each young person grow, learn, and work to achieve their personal goals.

Thanks to our awesome partners, The Nate Doss Junior Grant Program will include:

1) $1000+ to be used to cover travel expenses, entry fee, and PDGA Certified Officials exam fee to compete in the 2016 PDGA Amatuer and Junior World Championships.

2) 50 Discraft discs of their choice.

3) 1 Grip Equipment B15 Disc Golf Bag, color of their choice.

4) 2 Pairs of Keen Shoes of their choice.
