Ledgestone Insurance Open hits $65,000 added cash, Discraft’s Ti FLX plastic announced

2015 Ledgestone Insurance OpenLedgestone Insurance Open tournament director Nate Heinold had many announcements on last night’s SmashBoxxTV Podcast with Terry Miller and Jonny V. First, Heinold announced they have now reached $65,000 added cash for the pro purse for the National Tour stop in August. We previously announced they hit the $35,000 mark which would make it the richest National Tour tournament in history.

Assuming a full field, the $65,000 will help bring the total pro purse to a unbelievable $115,000 without counting the amateur side of the tournament. The Men’s Open winner will be rewarded with $6,600. Even 25th place will be taking home a check in the four figures with $1,000 lined up for them.

They aren’t forgetting about the Women’s Open division with their winner bringing home $3,000. Men’s Masters will be competing for $1,600.

Another exciting announcement came with the details of the new Ti FLX plastic from Discraft. This new blend of Titanium and FLX brings the great visual look of Ti and adds in the grip and flexibility of FLX. Heinold says it isn’t as flexible as Innova’s GStar, but certainly has some movement to it.

Expect to see new Ti FLX Buzzz, BuzzzSS, and Nuke out in retailers in about six weeks.

While the added cash and new plastic are exciting announcements, the most impactful announcement was the announcement of a $10,000 donation (at minimum) to St. Jude from the tournament. With a local St. Jude affiliate in Peoria (the location of the Ledgestone Insurance Open), Heinold wanted to make sure this wasn’t just a “cash grab” and a chance to give back as well.

Registration opens for the Ledgesgtone Insurance Open on March 12. Be sure to register early for your chance to play in this record setting event.
